DEFIANCE Solid-State Marine Push Button Switches

The Baywatt DEFIANCE Series is a range of solid-state marine push button switches designed for clean dashboard control on boats, refit panels, 4x4 builds, RV systems and custom DC electrical panels.

Each DEFIANCE switch combines a real push-button feel with internal solid-state switching, a 316 stainless steel front body, IP68 protection, a 90cm pre-wired cable and integrated blue/red LED feedback.

The range is available in latching ON/OFF, momentary ON, 2-circuit OFF-1-2 and navigation/anchor OFF-BOTH-1 versions, allowing the same switch design to be used across several dashboard functions.

Choose the right DEFIANCE switch

Select the reference according to the function you need. The four models share the same DEFIANCE design language, but they do not behave the same way.

Solid-state control, real push-button feel

DEFIANCE is not a basic mechanical push button and it is not a touch-only piezo switch. It keeps the familiar action of a real push button while using an internal solid-state switching circuit to control the output.

The solid-state circuit includes internal self-protection behavior in case of overload. This feature is designed to protect the switch electronics; it is not designed to protect the full installation.

Each circuit must still be protected with the correct fuse or circuit breaker according to the cable size and connected load.

Blue/red LED feedback

DEFIANCE switches use blue/red LED indication to provide quick visual feedback on the dashboard.

On the single-output versions, the logic is simple:

  • Blue: OFF
  • Red: ON

On the two-output versions, the LED indication helps identify the selected channel or operating mode depending on the switch function.

DEFIANCE is not RESOLUTE

DEFIANCE is a solid-state push button switch. It is designed to control a DC circuit with a modern electronic switching design.

RESOLUTE is a separate product family and should not be confused with DEFIANCE. DEFIANCE includes internal self-protection for the switch electronics, but it is not a resettable circuit breaker and it is not a thermal auto-reset protection device.

DEFIANCE switches are control switches. They do not replace proper fuse or circuit breaker protection in the installation.

Is DEFIANCE a piezo switch?
No. DEFIANCE is not a touch-only piezo switch. It has a real push-button action with internal solid-state switching.

Is DEFIANCE a circuit breaker?
No. DEFIANCE is a control switch, not a resettable breaker. Use the correct fuse or circuit breaker for the circuit.

What happens in case of overload?
The solid-state circuit includes internal self-protection behavior to protect the switch electronics. This does not replace the correct fuse or circuit breaker in the installation.

What is the current rating?
The single-output versions are rated up to 20A at 12V DC. The two-circuit versions are rated 5A per circuit, with a 10A total switch rating.

Are the symbols included?
No. Marine symbols and dashboard stickers are sold separately so the customer can choose the correct function label.

Which model should I choose for navigation and anchor lights?
Choose DEFIANCE-SP2-LT. It is the navigation / anchor version with OFF-BOTH-1 switching behavior.
