Sea Walker S3000 48V Electric Outboard Motor – 3 kW / 6HP equivalent

A compact electric outboard built for real boat use

The Sea Walker S3000 is a 48V electric outboard motor rated at 3.0 kW, designed as a practical 6HP equivalent solution for tenders, inflatable boats, small fishing boats and coastal leisure use. It keeps the familiar layout of a traditional outboard motor, with tiller steering, transom mounting and simple handling, while replacing fuel, noise and exhaust fumes with clean electric propulsion.

This motor is especially suitable for boaters looking for a compact and robust electric outboard for harbour manoeuvres, short coastal trips, water activities or inland navigation. Its direct-drive architecture reduces mechanical complexity and helps deliver smooth, quiet and responsive operation on the water.

External battery system for better flexibility

Unlike battery-integrated electric outboards, the Sea Walker S3000 uses an external 48V battery system. The battery is not included, allowing the user to choose the right battery capacity depending on the boat, expected range and operating time.

This configuration also improves weight distribution. On inflatable boats and tenders, placing the battery forward can help balance the boat, reduce bow rise and improve handling. It also makes the motor itself lighter and easier to lift, install and remove from the transom.

  • External battery required: battery not included with the motor.
  • 48V system: compatible with suitable 48V lithium battery packs.
  • Better weight balance: battery position can be adjusted inside the boat.
  • Flexible runtime: autonomy depends on the selected battery capacity.

48V: efficient power for small boats

The 48V electrical platform offers a strong balance between performance, safety and practicality. It provides enough voltage to deliver meaningful propulsion from a compact motor, while remaining easier to integrate than high-voltage marine systems.

For correct operation, the motor must be connected to a battery capable of supplying the required discharge current. A weak or undersized battery can limit performance, reduce runtime or create voltage drop under acceleration. For best results, the battery should be selected according to the boat size, load, desired speed and expected range.

  • 3.0 kW rated output: suitable for tenders, inflatable boats and small craft.
  • 6HP equivalent: designed as an electric alternative to a small petrol outboard.
  • 48V operation: practical voltage level for portable marine electric propulsion.

Direct-drive electric propulsion

The S3000 uses a direct-drive electric motor, meaning power is transmitted directly to the propeller without a complex gearbox. This design helps reduce mechanical losses, noise and maintenance requirements compared with traditional combustion engines.

Direct drive also gives the motor a smooth and immediate response at the tiller. This is useful when manoeuvring in a marina, approaching a pontoon, controlling a tender at low speed or adjusting position while fishing.

  • Smooth acceleration: electric torque is available immediately.
  • Reduced maintenance: fewer mechanical components than petrol propulsion.
  • Quiet operation: lower vibration and noise on board.

Advanced copper-winding motor design

The Sea Walker S3000 uses an advanced copper-winding motor design. Instead of describing it only as a “hairpin motor”, which can be unclear for normal users, the key benefit is simple: the winding architecture helps improve efficiency, heat dissipation and compact power delivery.

This supports stable 3 kW output in a manageable motor size, while helping the motor stay cooler during operation. For the user, this means quieter navigation, better energy use and more reliable performance under load.

  • Efficient copper winding: designed to reduce electrical losses.
  • Good heat dissipation: helps maintain stable operation.
  • Compact power delivery: 3 kW output in a portable outboard format.

S / L / XL shaft options

The S3000 is available with short, long and extra-long shaft options, making it easier to match the motor to different transom heights. Choosing the right shaft length is important: if the shaft is too short, the propeller may ventilate; if it is too long, drag and handling can be affected.

  • S shaft: approximately 39 cm.
  • L shaft: approximately 49 cm.
  • XL shaft: approximately 59–61 cm.
  • Recommended transom height: 400–600 mm depending on boat configuration.

Metal 3-blade propeller

The motor is fitted with a 3-blade metal propeller sized at 11 3/4" × 13 1/2". A metal propeller offers better mechanical resistance than a basic plastic propeller, especially for regular marine use, shallow-water manoeuvres and demanding conditions.

The final speed and autonomy depend strongly on the hull shape, total load, battery capacity, sea state, propeller immersion and weight distribution. A light, well-balanced inflatable boat or tender will generally perform better than a heavily loaded or flexible hull.

Quiet and clean navigation

Electric propulsion eliminates petrol smell, reduces vibration and makes the boat much quieter on the water. This improves comfort for passengers and is particularly useful for fishing, wildlife observation, harbour manoeuvres and leisure boating in calm areas.

  • Low noise: quieter than a small petrol outboard.
  • Reduced vibration: smoother experience on board.
  • No fuel on board: cleaner storage and easier handling.
  • Zero local emissions: suitable for sensitive waters and inland use.

Tiller control for simple handling

The tiller handle provides direct and intuitive control. It keeps the motor easy to use for tender operation, short trips and precise manoeuvring. This familiar outboard-style layout makes the S3000 easy to adopt for users already used to small petrol outboards.

  • Direct steering: simple tiller operation.
  • Easy manoeuvring: useful in marinas, pontoons and tight spaces.
  • Responsive control: smooth electric power delivery.

Safety lanyard and marine protection

The S3000 includes a safety lanyard for emergency stop operation. This allows the motor to shut down quickly if the operator is separated from the tiller, improving safety during navigation.

The motor is designed for marine use with an indicated IP67 / IP68 protection rating. As with any marine electrical equipment, correct installation, rinsing after saltwater use and regular inspection are recommended to maintain long-term reliability.

  • Safety lanyard: emergency stop function.
  • Marine protection: IP67 / IP68 indicated rating.
  • Saltwater care: rinse and inspect after use in seawater.

Easy to carry, install and remove

With a net weight of approximately 25 kg, the S3000 remains manageable for transport and installation. The external battery system also helps keep the motor lighter than a comparable battery-integrated model.

The side handle makes handling easier when lifting the motor, moving it to storage or fitting it to the transom. This is especially useful for tenders, portable boats and users who remove the motor after each outing.

  • Approx. 25 kg: manageable weight for a 3 kW electric outboard.
  • Integrated carry handle: easier lifting and transport.
  • External battery: motor remains lighter and easier to handle.

Performance depends on the boat setup

Electric outboard performance is strongly influenced by the boat hull, total load, battery discharge capability, sea state and weight distribution. A rigid or well-supported hull will usually deliver better speed and efficiency than a soft or overloaded inflatable boat.

For best results, use a correctly sized 48V battery, keep the boat as light as practical, distribute weight carefully and select the correct shaft length for the transom. The same motor can deliver very different results depending on the hull and installation.

Recommended 48V battery

For optimal performance, we recommend using a high-discharge 48V lithium battery capable of supplying the current required by a 3 kW electric outboard. The S3000 is supplied without battery, allowing the user to select the right capacity depending on the boat, range and expected operating time.
